Curriculum

Exploring Child Learning Center is an emergent curriculum center that values and follows the lead of the child. We prioritize a child-centered approach and draw inspiration from various research-based principles and philosophies in early childhood education. These philosophies serve as the foundation for developmentally appropriate practices that support the holistic well-being of each child. Our approach is a blend of ideologies from renowned philosophers such as Maslow, Erikson, Gardner, Froebel, Dewey, Piaget, Vygotsky, Pikler, Gerber, and Rogers, all of whom emphasize the crucial role of play in the learning process of young children.

What is Play?

  • Play is child lead

  • Play is intrinsically motivated and is process based

  • Play is started and stopped by the child

  • Play is non-stressful

  • The rules in play are made by the players/children

Play is the gateway to discovery and wonder, and through it, children embark on a journey of learning that fills them with a lifelong love for discovery.

Teacher’s role in the classroom

Our teachers are early childhood professionals with extensive knowledge and backgrounds in early childhood education. Their expertise in stages of play, types of play, play theory, child development, brain development, and developmentally appropriate practices enables them to effectively support the diverse needs of each child in their care. Acting as facilitators, guides, caregivers, and observers in the classroom, they support each child wherever they are in their developmental journey. Our teachers take play seriously and engage in intentional play to achieve specific learning goals.

Arts

At Exploring Child Learning Center, we believe that each child is creative. It is important to us that children are able to freely express themselves through process art. We encourage creativity and self-expression through various mediums such as painting, drawing,  sculpting etc.

Music

Music is a powerful tool for learning and development. Our music program introduces children to different styles of music and instruments, and encourages them to express themselves through singing and movement.

Movement

Physical activity is crucial for a child's overall health and development. We encourage movement by letting children explore large muscle movement through some activities like yoga, dance, and outdoor play, and helps children develop their gross motor skills and coordination.

Language

Language development is a key aspect of early childhood education. Our language program introduces children to new vocabulary and helps them develop their communication skills through storytelling, reading, and writing activities.

Mathematics

Mathematics is an important subject that lays the foundation for future learning. Our mathematics program introduces children to basic concepts such as counting, sorting, and shape recognition, and helps them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Outdoor Play

Exploring Child Learning Center believes that outdoor play is essential for a child's physical and emotional well-being. Our outdoor play program includes activities such as gardening, nature walks, free play, games, and helps children develop a love for the outdoors.
